A cruise ship is 637 feet long. Susie is making a scale model of the boat to place in the front hall display case. The display case is 20 inches long. Which scale will allow her to make the longest model that will fit in the display case?
for 637 feet we have 20 inches
therefore for 1 inch we have 637/20 = 31.85 feets
therefore on the display case,each inch will correspond to 31.85 inches
