bike or ride the subway or walk in toronto?
Ok,so I ll be commuting from union to ryerson and the kensington market area and further west as well this year in toronto. I have fallen in LOVE with the barcelona citizen bike and I really want it. But with shipping and the basket to carry my stuff it would come to about $530.
I would invest in this if I knew it would remain safe. I plan on buying at least two locks for it and so locking it up safely.
But i have heard of sooo many stolent bikes,seats,slashed tires,slashed chains. I just don’t know what to do. I woud love to bike around but its a waste if it gets stolen. Im a student so id be left with noo money.
Do you know of maybe a pretty and cheaper model that is also durable??
also,just offer any thoughts you have please. would it be more convenient to just walk?

Yep,I had my nice bike stolen in Toronto,and I had a bike seat stolen at another time. A few years ago a guy named Igor Kenk was arrested in Toronto,and it was subsequently found out that he was the ringleader of a bike-theft operation that was responsible for a high percentage of Toronto’s bike thefts. My bike and seat were stolen during his reign…I don’t know if the streets are now any safer. I think that you need a bike,but you’re not going to be covering a huge area,and your territory is pretty flat,so either just get yourself a basic minimum-gear bike with sturdy tires,or fold up your Barcelona and carry it with you wherever you go. To save money you could buy one in Buffalo,New York,where it’ll be cheaper,or buy it online,where it’s a bit cheaper too. It’s a beautiful bike,I agree,which means a beautiful target in Toronto the Good.
