Displaying Your Car’S Name
Naming vehicles has always been popular, whether it’s ships, planes, bikes or cars. Unfortunately, this practise has been hugely biased towards planes and ships. It’s extremely common to have the name of a plane or ship painted on it somewhere (Fighter planes especially, and who can forget the ships with figureheads, often depicting beautiful women, attached to the front?),and they’ll even get a bottle of champagne broken on them, but cars aren’t nearly as lucky. Having a name painted on a car can look out of place, and is a lot more obvious than many people wish to make their cars.
Fortunately, there is a respite for car and bike owners, and this respite comes in the form of number plates. It would be very easy to simply name your car and then have nothing indicate its name;you can just tell people what your car’s name is if you want them to know, but a badge to display your car’s name means that you will never have to. A car called “Murray”won’t draw attention to it if nobody knows that’s what it’s called, but Rio the Renault Clio will get plenty of attention with a “R10”plate.
Plenty of people take the model name that their car already has and have that on their license plates. For instance, many Americans import Smart cars from Europe and wish to customise it with plates such as “SMART0NE”. Many people will also have seen BMW or JAG on,funnily enough on BMWs or Jaguars.
The only issue with giving your car a normal name like “John”or “Tim”is that people might see the number plate and assume it’s referring to you, which is presumably why many people name their cars something more outlandish,or something that matches or rhymes with the model of car they have.
Of course,if you absolutely wanted to,you could paint the name of your car on its side,or even carve a figurehead and place it on your bonnet as a more ostentatious like a Jaguar,Rolls Royce or Mercedes ornament, but it might be something of a hazard if it limits visibility too much. A number plate with the name on is definitely the safer, better way of doing this
