HMS Endeavour History
The HMS Endeavour,also known as the Endeavour,was a research vessel Royal Navy. The ship was purchased in 1768 by a scientific mission in the Pacific Ocean and explore the uncharted seas of the South. Under the command of Lieutenant James Cook,the ship sailed Plymouth in August 1768. Some features of the voyage of HMS Endeavour were:
- The ship arrived in Tahiti in time to observe the transit 1769 Venus in the sun.
- The boat ventured into the largely unexplored oceans south and allow his captain to claim the Pacific Islands Huahine,Bora-Bora and Rajat for Britain.
- It was the first European ship to visit New Zealand in September 1769,127 years after Abel Tasman.
- He became the first boat ocean to the east coast of Australia in April 1770.

- The ship resumed its journey westward the December 26,rounded the Cape of Good Hope,in March 1771 and arrived at the English port of Dover on 12 July after being at sea for nearly three years.

Although the vessel was sold into private hands in 1775,returned naval service brief to transport troops during the Revolutionary War and was sunk in 1778. Although the wreck could not be located,some of their guns and anchor shown in various maritime museums. A replica of HMS Endeavour was launched in 1994,now berthed in the National Maritime Museum of Australia.
