How do you know the power of a processor when you only know the model number?
I’m not sure if it’s possible,but I saw some spec sheets or websites telling the specifications of a computer,they tell the models of video cards,ram,weight,processors and stuff,but sometimes they only tell the model number or the processor and didn’t give out the speed/clock-rate or it.
So.. is it possible to know the power just by knowing the model? Is there a formula or something like knowing the power of video card normally by depending on the 2nd number in the series??
Or maybe it is not possible and they didn’t tell us the clock-speed because you can choose and customize it before shipping?? Something like that?

Sometimes in the past,the power of the CPU was part of it’s model number,but you can’t make a “rule of thumb”to tell those things. The only things you can do are:
- Memorizing tables and tables of CPU models and their specs,so you instantly know what you’re looking at
- or just consulting the official website of the manufacturer when there are no specs written where you’re looking. It’s not too much work since there are only Intel and AMD. All you’d have to do is write the model number in the search bar (e.g. E8400,X2 555 etc) and you’d get the full spec on a lot of websites,but especially the official ones.
